THE MAKING OF MOTHER

By the time the Lord made mothers, He was into the sixth day working overtime. An Angel appeared and said "Why are you spending so much time on this one?"

And the Lord answered and said, "Have you read the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not elastic; have 200 movable parts, all replaceable; run on black coffee and leftovers; have a lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up; have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart; and have six pairs of hands."

The Angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. "Six pairs of hands! No way!" said the Angel.

The Lord replied, "Oh, it's not the hands that are the problem. It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers must have!"

"And that's on the standard model?" the Angel asked.

The Lord nodded in agreement, "Yep, one pair of eyes are to see through the closed door as she asks her children what they are doing even though she already knows. Another pair in the back of her head are to see what she needs to know even though no one thinks she can. And the third pair are here in the front of her head. They are for looking at an errant child and saying that she understands and loves him or her without even saying a single word."

The Angel tried to stop the Lord "This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish."

"But I can't!" The Lord protested, "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can feed a family of six on a pound of hamburger and can get a nine year old to stand in the shower."

The Angel moved closer and touched the woman, "But you have made her so soft, Lord."

"She is soft," the Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."

"Will she be able to think?" asked the Angel.

The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate."

The Angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like You have a leak with this model. I told You that You were trying to put too much into this one."

"That's not a leak." the Lord objected. "That's a tear!"

"What's the tear for?" the Angel asked.

The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her disappointment, her pain, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride."

The Angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything for this one. You even created the tear!"

The Lord looked at the Angel and smiled and said, "I'm afraid you are wrong again. I created the woman, but she created the tear!"

Sania-Shoaib nikaah not today-Why A Pakistani Sania..

Suspense continues to stalk the wedding of Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza .After over a week's drama, which ended in Shoaib divorcing Ayesha Siddiqui, the Hyderabad girl he denied ever marrying, Sania's family sprung a surprise by advancing the nikaah(marriage ceremony) to Friday evening, though no official announcement was made.However, it is now learnt that the nikaah will not take place this evening, after all. The Mirzas say it wasn't scheduled for the day.First confirmation of the nikaah being held on Friday evening came from the area Qazi, Azmatullah Jafri, who said he would be solemnizing the marriage at Sania's residence at 1900 IST. "Sania's parents approached me to perform the nikaahand I will be doing it," he had said.Jafri, an acquaintance of the Mirza family who had overseen the divorce proceedings of Shoaib and Ayesha three days ago, added, "In Shoaib's marriage document it will be described as his second marriage."Earlier, the Qazi's office had expressed inability to perform the nikaahon grounds that Shoaib was not in possession of his passport."It is a must for any foreigner to produce his passport at the time of a wedding ceremony," an official of the state Waqf Board said.Shoaib's passport was taken away by the Hyderabad police after Ayesha lodged a complaint, accusing him of cheating and intimidation.But despite the divorce settlement and Ayeha withdrawing the complaint, the Hyderabad police hasn't returned the passport. They say it will take time to complete legal formalities in the case.Mohammed Najmuddin Hussain, the head Qazi of Hyderabad, however, clarified that the nikaahcan be performed on condition that the marriage certificate will be handed over to the newly-wed couple only after Shoaib produces the passport and hands over a copy of it to the Qazi later.In accordance with Islamic tradition, the Qazi will recite Quranic verses and fill a prescribed forms with details of the bride and groom before declaring them husband and wife in the presence of two witnesses and the girl's father. The marriage certificate will include details like whether it is the groom's first or second marriage and how much mehr(alimony) will be paid to the first wife.Meanwhile, though Hyderabad is agog with talk of the wedding, the Mirza family continues to remain mum. There was hectic activity at their residence and new barricades have been put up to keep the media and intruders away.Sources said a handful of close relatives and friends are invited to the nikaah ceremony, which will be followed by a reception on April 15 at Hotel Taj Krishna, in Hyderabad, for which around 800 invitation cards have been sent out.Mohammed Siddique in Hyderabad..

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday asked Home Minister P Chidambaram not to resign in the wake of Maoists' massacre of 76 security personnel in Dantewada, saying he should 'not show his back' as it would mean a victory for the Naxals."BJP does not want Chidambaram to resign at this stage. His resignation at this stage would mean a victory for Naxalites. He should not show his back because as the Home Minister of the country he is entrusted with the nation's security and can't whimper like an injured soldier on a back foot," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told mediapersons in New Delhi .He said BJP would not accept the victory of Maoists, who have managed to pull off the worst ever ambush on security forces."Though the government has failed on all fronts, it is not the time for a Senapati(commander) to step down," Rudy said adding security forces involved in anti-Naxal operations require inspiration."They should not be demoralised," he said. The BJP Member of Parliament, however, took a dig at Chidambaram saying, "He has become victim of his 'the buck stops here' statement... the buck stops where is not important for us at this stage. Our concern is that security forces should not be seen losing the battle at this stage."Chidambaram had come under attack from Left parties for telling West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya 'the buck stops with you' (on ending political violence in the state).The BJP expects the Home Minister's stand, statement and leadership at this crucial juncture to be aspirational rather than being confessional, he said.Rudy said the Home Minister should also come clean on 'whether his offer to resign was suo motu or he was under pressure after being denied a free hand in tackling the menace.'Asked as to why BJP was supporting him when it had sought the then Home Minister's resignation after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks , Rudy said the party stood united with the government 'irrespective of politics.'He said the party would corner the government on various issues, including Naxalism and rising prices, in Parliament."Parliament is the appropriate forum to debate such issues". Taking responsibility for the worst Naxalite carnage on security forces, the Home Minister had offered his resignation from the Cabinet to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh , who on Friday rejected it.

The teacher said, "Let us begin by reviewing some American History.

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Chandrasekhar, who had his hand up: 'Patrick Henry, 1775' he said.
'Very good!

Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?'
'Again, no response except from Chandrasekhar.
'Abraham Lincoln, 1863' said Chandrasekhar.

The teacher snapped at the class, 'Class, you should be ashamed. Chandrasekhar, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do.

'She heard a loud whisper: 'F**k the Indians.''Now,who said that?' she demanded. Chandrasekhar put his hand up. 'General Custer, 1862.'

At that point, a student in the back said, 'I'm gonna puke.'The teacher glares around and asks 'All right! Now, who said that?'
Again, Chandrasekhar says, 'George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.'

Now furious, another student yells,
'Oh yeah? S**k this! 'Chandrasekhar jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher ,

 'Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky,1997!

'Now with almost mob hysteria, someone said

'You little sh*t. If you say anything else, I'll kill you.'
Chandrasekhar frantically yells at the top of his voice, ' Michael Jackson (RIP) to the child witnesses testifying against him -2004.'

The teacher fainted. And, as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, 'Oh sh*t, we're screwed!
'And Chandrasekhar said quietly, 'I think it was the American people, November 4th, 2008".(recession)
